Little Journey supports children and their families through healthcare procedures and clinical trials. Their mission is to psychologically prepare, support and inform children before, during and after healthcare interactions, helping them feel more confident and ready throughout their healthcare journey.
A suite of premium offline materials was created for a global clinical trial supporting children with rare diseases across two age groups: 8–12 and 13–17.
The materials needed to work across different healthcare scenarios while remaining engaging, age-appropriate and relevant to children around the world. They also needed to complement Little Journey’s digital offering, providing families with practical tools that could be used at home and throughout the clinical trial journey.
A flexible visual system was developed to adapt across different scenarios, ages and stages of the trial, while maintaining a premium and cohesive feel.
The toolkit included trial booklets and supporting resources such as Trial Maps, Trial Trees, Tumble That, Would You Rather and Crack the Case. Each resource was designed to support a different aspect of the experience, from preparation and motivation to distraction and coping.
The designs were adapted for a range of healthcare scenarios and carefully considered for home printing and practical use, allowing the materials to be easily accessed and used by different age groups and families.
The result was a cohesive suite of premium, scenario-agnostic clinical trial materials designed to inform, prepare, distract and support children and their families throughout the trial journey.
